1. Purpose of this Policy

This Wi-Fi Privacy Policy explains how Platform94 (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects and processes personal data when you access or use our wireless network (“Service”).

This Policy applies to all users of the Service including tenants, employees, contractors, day members, visitors, and guests.

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

Platform94 operates a multi-tenanted commercial premises and provides Wi-Fi as a convenience service for authorised users.

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, Platform94 is the Data Controller for personal data processed through this Wi-Fi Service.

3. Categories of Personal Data We Process

When you connect to our Wi-Fi network, we may process the following data:

3.1 Technical and Connection Data

  • Device MAC address

  • Device IP address

  • Access point and location zone

  • Date and time of connection

  • Duration of session

  • Amount of data transmitted/received

  • Device type, operating system, and hardware identifiers

3.2 Network and Security Events

  • Firewall events

  • Intrusion detection alerts

  • Malware triggers

  • Attempts to access prohibited content or services

  • Authentication logs (if applicable)

3.3 Additional Information (Only if Necessarily Captured)

  • User identity if voluntarily supplied, e.g. via portal login or building access systems

  • Contact details provided for support queries

We do not inspect or monitor the content of your communications except where legally required to do so.

4. How We Collect Data

Data may be collected through:

  • Wi-Fi network access points and controllers

  • Firewall and threat-detection systems

  • Authentication or onboarding portals

  • Support or incident reporting interaction with building management

Data is collected automatically as part of providing, protecting, and managing the Wi-Fi network.

5. Why We Process Personal Data (Purposes)

We process personal data for:

  1. Network operation - to provide connectivity, manage load, and ensure performance.

  2. Security monitoring - to detect threats such as malware, intrusion attempts or compromised devices.

  3. Misuse prevention - to enforce acceptable use policies and prevent illegal activity.

  4. Audit and incident investigation - to review anomalies, troubleshoot faults or respond to reported issues.

  5. Legal compliance - including cooperation with law enforcement or regulatory bodies.

  6. Service improvement - monitoring performance and user behaviours to enhance network operation.

We do not process data for profiling, advertising, marketing, analytics, or resale purposes.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Processing of your data is carried out on the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) - ensuring network security, performance, threat detection and efficient provision of Wi-Fi services.

  • Contract (Article 6(1)(b)) - accepting connection is acceptance of Terms allowing Wi-Fi access.

  • Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) - responding to lawful requests from An Garda Síochána, courts, regulators, or cybercrime reporting bodies.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we do so only where the processing is necessary and does not override your rights and freedoms.

7. Sharing and Disclosure of Data

We may disclose connection or security-event data:

  • To law enforcement agencies where required or where unlawful activity is suspected

  • To regulators, auditors or insurance providers for compliance or legal defence purposes

  • To IT security providers / support contractors who maintain or monitor the network (under strict confidentiality terms)

We do not share data with advertisers or third parties for commercial purposes.

8. International Transfers

Your personal data is generally stored within the EU/EEA.
If any data is transferred outside the EU (e.g. cloud logging tools), it will only be done under approved safeguards such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

  • Logging and monitoring

  • Threat detection systems

  • Access controls and encryption (where applicable)

No Wi-Fi network is fully secure.
Users are responsible for securing their own devices using antivirus, encryption, personal firewalls, and VPN where required.

10. Data Retention

Connection logs, security logs, and network records are retained:

  • Only for as long as required to fulfil the purposes in Section 5,

  • And in line with legal requirements and risk-management needs.

Retention periods may vary depending on circumstances such as a security incident or legal request. Logs associated with investigations may be preserved beyond standard retention timeframes where necessary.

Under GDPR, you have rights over your personal data including:

  • Right of access

  • Right to rectification

  • Right to erasure (in certain circumstances)

  • Right to restriction

  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interests

  • Right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission
